Calle de Rivero: Holy Christ chapel and Caños de Rivero fountain
Chapter 6/10 · Avilés
Calle de Rivero was the road out of the town toward Oviedo, and it is still a stretch of the Camino de Santiago. The writer Armando Palacio Valdés spent years of his childhood and youth here.
We are beside the chapel of the Holy Christ of Rivero and Saint Peter, from the seventeenth century, rebuilt in 1891. Next to it is the fountain of the Caños de Rivero, from 1815. It is one of the prettiest corners of the city. Pause for photos.
Right beside it is one of the entrances to Ferrera Park. Let us go in.
