Roman Bridge (Puentón)

Chapter 2/7 · Cangas de Onís

We are at the Roman Bridge, known here as the Puentón. It has been a Historic-Artistic Monument since 1931. From the central arch hangs a replica of the Victory Cross.

Although it is called «Roman», the bridge you see is medieval, from the 14th or 15th century. The Town Hall notes that it may be the rebuilding of an earlier bridge of Roman origin.

We cross towards the Town Hall square.
