Campoamor Theatre

Chapter 3/9 · Oviedo

This is the Campoamor Theatre, opened on the 17th of September 1892 with the opera Les Huguenots by Meyerbeer. It is named after the poet Ramón de Campoamor, on the proposal of the writer Leopoldo Alas, known as Clarín, who was then a city councillor.

It is best known because the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony is held here every year. If you come at another time, there may be opera or concerts.

Now we go down a few metres to the historic building of the university.
