Bridge over the Sella
Chapter 6/8 · Ribadesella
This is the bridge over the Sella. The first one, made of wood, was built in 1865. In 1898 an iron one, designed by José Eugenio Ribera, replaced it, and it was destroyed in the Civil War in 1937. Since 1940 there has been a concrete bridge, the one we cross today.
The Sella reaches the town as an estuary. It is the river of the famous International Descent, a festival of International Tourist Interest held on the first Saturday of August after the 2nd.
We cross the bridge towards Santa Marina beach.
