Fishing harbour and Princesa Letizia promenade
Chapter 1/8 · Ribadesella
Welcome to Ribadesella! We start at the fishing harbour, beside the Princesa Letizia promenade, which runs from the end of the Sella bridge to the fish market. Facing the harbour here are most of the town’s cider houses and restaurants.
The town was formally founded in the 13th century under King Alfonso X the Wise, joining the territories of Leces and Meluerda, one on each side of the estuary. For centuries it lived from shipyards, the salt trade, salmon fishing and whale hunting.
We will make a circular walk and come back here. First, let’s go towards the Paseo de la Grúa.
