Les Conserveres Park
Chapter 9/10 · Candás
This is the Les Conserveres park, dedicated to the women of the canning factories and opened in 1999. It has an open-air stage, a mural of Candás in the 1960s and a botanical garden with more than 20 species of palm.
In the 19th century many canning factories settled in Candás, such as Albo in 1895 and Bernardo Alfageme in 1898, and they gave work to many women. In the lower part of the park, Alfageme's old cistern, where water was stored for its sparkling cider, has housed the Permanent Exhibition of the Canning Industry since 2006.
Along Calle La Cruz and El Rincón we return to the Plaza de La Baragaña.
