Revillagigedo Palace and Collegiate Church of St John the Baptist

Chapter 3/9 · Gijón

Plaza del Marqués. Before us stands Revillagigedo Palace, an eighteenth-century Baroque ensemble facing the marina. One of its two towers dates back to the fifteenth century.

Attached to the palace is the Collegiate Church of Saint John the Baptist, finished in seventeen twenty-three. The complex was declared a monument — a Property of Cultural Interest — on the thirtieth of May, nineteen seventy-four. Today it hosts exhibitions and cultural events.

A few steps more and we enter the Main Square, home to the City Hall. Let’s keep walking.
