And here our walk ends, next to the Church of Santa María de Sábada. Lastres became well known all over Spain thanks to the television series «Doctor Mateo», broadcast by Antena 3 between 2009 and 2011, in which the village appeared under the name of San Martín del Sella. Earlier, in the series «Un paso adelante», one of the main characters came from Lastres, and in 2016 part of the Christmas Lottery advert was filmed here.
When it awarded the Exemplary Village Prize in 2010, the jury highlighted its spirit of self-improvement, its respect for traditions and its ability to work together through the fishermen's brotherhoods. The mathematician Agustín de Pedrayes and Benito Lué y Riega, the last Spanish bishop of Buenos Aires, were from Lastres.
