San Roque Chapel and Viewpoint
Chapter 2/9 · Lastres
We are in the Campo de San Roque, at the top of the village. The little chapel holds a Baroque altarpiece which, according to its inscription, dates from 1619.
From the viewpoint you can see the whole of Lastres, with its harbour, the Sueve range and the coast; on clear days the Picos de Europa can be made out in the distance.
To the east, by the sea, the place called El Castillo recalls that the village had to be fortified in times of war, for example during the War of the Spanish Succession, at the beginning of the 18th century.
We go back the same way and head down towards the La Fontana quarter.
