Maritime Museum of Asturias

Welcome to Luanco, a fishing town and the capital of the municipality of Gozón! We start at the Maritime Museum of Asturias, on Calle Gijón. This is a circular walk on foot: we will come back to this very spot.
Founded in 1948, it is the oldest museum in the Principality and has been in this building since 2000. Its rooms cover marine biology, traditional boatbuilding, fishing and the history of navigation. It suits the town: as early as the 13th century, King Alfonso X granted Gozón a town charter because of its fishing, and bonito and whales were its great catches.
We head up towards the centre, to Casa Mori.
