Pérez Casadoiro mansion
Chapter 4/11 · Navia
This building in the «montañés» style is the Pérez Casadoiro mansion, built for Adolfo Pérez Martínez to plans by the architect Manuel del Busto. It was designed in 1918 and finished in 1921.
The so-called montañés style is inspired by the traditional manor houses of Cantabria. Here you can recognise it in the side tower, the projecting eaves and the side porch of the long wing. But it also has picturesque details, such as the wooden battens on the top floor and on the tower.
Navia's tourist office describes Manuel del Busto as a famous Spanish-Cuban architect. He also drew up the plans for the Casino of Puerto de Vega, in this same municipality, built in 1931.
Right next door, the Casino and the Fantasio Cinema are waiting for us.
