Back to Navia harbour

Chapter 11/11 · Navia

We return to the harbour along the Paseo del 8 de Marzo and the street of the Doctors Ramón and Jesús Martínez. In 1991 this street was named after two doctors from Navia who were much loved in the town, and there are sculptures here in their memory.

And here our walk ends, back at the harbour. If you have time, continue along the seafront promenade, which follows the estuary to Navia beach. Further on, on a bend of the road to El Moro beach, the El Monolito viewpoint, from 1967, pays tribute to the emigrants with an iron mast and a seagull defying the ocean.

Navia is also one of the gateways to the Navia Historical Park: about four kilometres away as the crow flies is the hillfort of Coaña, an ancient settlement with some eighty huts protected by a thick wall. Thank you for joining us and have a good trip!
