We are on Tapia island, next to the lighthouse. It is the westernmost lighthouse on the Asturian coast and the only one in the region built on an island, now joined to land by the Entreislas breakwater. It was first lit on 1 September 1859, as a third-order lighthouse.

At first it was a square, single-storey building around a courtyard, with the tower attached to its north side. It was enlarged in 1922 and electrified in 1944. In 1962 the tower was rebuilt; since then it has been square, with the word «Tapia» written on its north face, looking out to sea. The lighthouse cannot be visited inside.

From the top of the island you can see the whole town, framed between the sea and the quays, and much of the western coast of Asturias and Lugo. It is a good place to watch the sunset.

Now we cross the bridge again and walk up a little to the chapel of San Sebastián.
