Clock Tower

Chapter 3/9 · Luanco

Here is the Clock Tower. Its façade still shows the year it was built, 1705, and it is one of the few examples of 18th-century public architecture in Asturias.

It has a square plan, with three levels marked by string courses. The doorway is Baroque, and the Victory Cross is carved above the lintel. It has served as a watchtower, a prison and a storehouse; today it holds the town clock, and its bell bears the name of Antonio García Caunedo.

Just a few steps away, next to the tower, is the Pilatos Viewpoint.
